The Kansas State Board of Nursing has approved Barclay College at Haviland to offer the traditional bachelor’s degree in nursing. The Barclay School of Nursing has now submitted the program to the accreditor, and the program is pending approval by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

Barclay has already been approved by HLC to offer the nursing graduation program where a Registered Nurse (RN) can progress to the Bachelor of Science (BSN) in Nursing. The program is offered through Barclay College Online and is accepting applications for Fall 2022.

The traditional BSN program meets the needs of the traditional or non-traditional student who wishes to become licensed as a licensed professional nurse at the baccalaureate level. This is a full-time offer with clinic in health facilities and on campus. As a faith-based school, Barclay includes Biblical Studies, culminating in a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies (BBS).

The program is designed around high-quality professional nursing courses delivered by faculty with over 34 years of combined nursing education experience. Kim Hansen, Dean of the School of Nursing, said, “As a faith-based college, the Barclay program provides an environment that integrates faith with nursing skills.

Barclay redesigned its science building, Jackson Hall, to house the nursing program.

With the shortage of nurses in Kansas and the lack of nursing programs in the region, the launch of the School of Nursing affirms Barclay College’s commitment to the future of Southwestern Kansas.

Applications are currently being accepted for the RN to BSN Graduation Program for the Fall 2022 semester on campus. The program will be offered online. Classes begin every eight weeks and can be completed part-time or full-time in as little as three semesters. The program concludes with a clinical practicum course synthesizing faith and professional skills in nursing practice.
